It is believed by some people that modern man shared several thousand years of history with Neanderthals, and also that the Middle-Eastern region was home to some of the last surviving pockets of Homo sapiens neandertalensis or H. neandertalensis. Therefore, it is conceivable that a folk memory of these creatures survived by way of mythology. In addition, it appears that the very last Neanderthals adopted some of the technological and cultural innovations of their H. sapiens contemporaries. The theory is that surviving Neanderthals or hybrids might have been large, powerful men possessing the intellect and societal characteristics of our own species, which would explain their identification as "mightiest ones" and "men of renown." One flaw in this theory is that H. neanderthalensis were slightly shorter than H. sapiens. On the other hand, they were giants compared to their even shorter predecessors, Australopithecus and Homo habilis.
Ancient pagan beliefs about the origin of the world are many and varied. Today's Neo-Pagans may or may not believe the ancient creation stories to be true, but most are probably interested in the symbolism they offer. Here's an example of an ancient pagan creation story told by Nordic peoples:

She is often identified as the mother of all incubi and succubi. Late medieval Jewish legend portrays her as the first wife and equal of Adam. When Lilith refused, God punished her by commanding that she slay 100 of her children, called Lilin, each day. Lilith is also sometimes considered to be the paramour of Satan.[

Az írástudók csakhamar elkülönülnek - már a babiloni száműzetés zsidóságában - nemcsak a tisztátalan pogányoktól, de a többi, nem írástudó zsidóktól is. Így lesz minden írástudóból farizeus - "elkülönődött". Az írástudókat ettől kezdve nevezhetjük farizeusoknak. Később az írástudók által előírt életmódot, amely a legszigorúbb elkülönődést jelentette azoktól, akik nem az írás és az írás magyarázata szerint éltek, követték olyanok is, akik nem voltak írástudók, de mégis elkülönődtek és ennek folytán szintén farizeusoknak vallották magukat. Így, bár minden írástudó egyszersmind farizeus is volt, de nem minden farizeus volt írástudó.

Bár ez a közvetlenség nagyon hamar megszűnt már azáltal is, hogy a népi nyelv az arameus lett és a zsidó nép a Biblia héber szöveget már meg sem értette.

The Rephaites (רפאים also known as Zamzummites, Anakites, and Emites) were a grouping of tall peoples mentioned in the Hebrew Bible that lived between the Nile River and the Euphrates River during the time of Abraham (Abram) (Genesis 15:20). They were considered by Joshua's scouts to be equivalent to the Nephilim.

The Emites and Anakites were sometimes considered part of this group [1] but sometimes separate [2]. The Bible records that God used the Ammonites to destroy the Rephaites in Deuteronomy 2:19-21. The giant size of the Rephaites is illustrated by the bed of Og, king of Bashan that was "made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide" (Deuteronomy 3:10-12). During the time of David, several Philistine warriors including Goliath, are considered Rephaites [3].
The Emim was the Moabite name for one of the tribes of Rephaim. They are described in Deuteronomy chapter 2 as having been a powerful people, populous and having a successful kingdom. They were defeated by the Moabites, who occupied their land. The Emim are also mentioned in Genesis 14:5 and according to Rashi, the name is translated as "the dreaded ones" (Hertz 1936).



The angels too, who did not keep to their own domain but deserted their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains, in gloom, for the judgement of the great day. Samael
Samael and Lilith are in the shape of an androgynous being, double-faced, born out of the emanation of the Throne of Glory and corresponding in the spiritual realm to Adam and Eve

"Leviathan the Slant Serpent and Leviathan the Torturous Serpent" and a reinterpretation of an old Talmudic myth where God castrated the male Leviathan and slew the female Leviathan in order to prevent them from mating and thereby destroying the earth.
This may relate to various late medieval iconography of a female serpent figure, believed to be Lilith, tempting Adam and Eve.

Arabic mythology
Karina of Arabic lore is considered Lilith’s equal.[68] She is mentioned as a child-stealing and child-killing witch. In this context, Karina plays the role of a "shadow" of a woman and a corresponding male demon, Karin, is the "shadow" of a man. Should a woman marry, her Karina marries the man’s Karin. When the woman becomes pregnant is when Karina will cause her chaos.
